Football: Class 2A, 3A playoff points system averages, projections for Oct. 11 -- Observer Preps

While The First Academy continues to look like a lock for the playoffs, Foundation Academy and Trinity Prep are still in the hunt as the season hits the home stretch.

With games through Oct. 9 included, the FHSAA released its latest playoff points-system averages Oct. 10, lending some more clarity to the evolving playoff picture.

Below, we have the regional standings for regions in Class 1A-4A that include teams covered by Observer Preps (bolded below).

Unlike the upper classifications, whose awarding of playoff spots is somewhat complicated by the decision to keep district champions as automatic entries to the postseason, the way the point system works in Classes 1A-4A this season is relatively easy to understand: Because there are no districts, the top four teams in each region make the playoffs.
