Girls on the Run seeks coaches and junior coach volunteers

The organization empowers girls to make healthy decisions and become independent thinkers.

Girls on the Run is seeking coaches and junior coaches to help run its 10-week classes.

The organization that combines training for a 5K run with life lessons that encourage girls to make healthy decisions and empower them to become independent thinkers. Teams of 8-15 girls meet twice a week for 10 weeks. 

At the end of the 10 weeks, teams run a 5K together.

Teams meet up at local elementary and middle schools, including several in the West Orange area. For the fall, Girls on the Run is seeking teachers and parents who are willing to get the program approved through their principal and volunteer to coach at their school. 

The organization is also seeking high school students willing to volunteer as junior coaches. 

Most volunteer positions open in the fall, though some will be available this summer.
