Dallas Edward Duppenthaler, age 99, of Winter Garden, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018. He was born in Blue River, Wisconsin, on Nov. 10, 1918, and was the son of the late Edward Robert and Clara Jane Duppenthaler.

He was a graduate of University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He was inducted into the University of Washington Hall of Fame in 1986 for rowing. His row team was favored to win the 1941 Olympics in Finland but was cancelled due to the war. He was a captain in the Army during World War II.

He was a member of the Winter Garden Lions Club for more than 60 years, serving multiple offices in the local club and was a past District Governor of District 35-0. He was also a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Bahia Shrine Temple. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winter Garden. He was a citrus grower for many years and an avid rock hound.

He is predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Charlotte Elizabeth Duppenthaler. He was an amazing father to six children and grandfather to 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He was known as Papa to everyone and will be missed.

He is survived by his brother, Keith Duppenthaler; his sons, Ed (Mary) Duppenthaler, Don (Jackie) Duppenthaler; daughters, Jane (Donnie) Aycock, Ann (Phil) Cross, Dale (the late Bruce) McKee and Diane (Richard Lallos) Duppenthaler.

He is predeceased by his brothers, Clareon Duppenthaler and Duke Duppenthaler, and his sister, Edwardine Unruh.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 at First United Methodist Church of Winter Garden. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to charity of choice.
