Virginia E. Carris, of Winter Garden, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018. She was born May 5, 1925, in Madison, Wisconsin.

Virginia grew up in Florida after her family moved here when she was a child. Virginia matriculated at Florida State College for Women (now FSU) and received a degree in elementary education. Virginia and her first husband raised a family of three children.

In her late 40s, Virginia met and married the love of her life, Jerry Carris. Together, they enjoyed a wonderful life full of family, friends and devotion to each other. Virginia was a terrific Mother, a doting Grandmother, a loyal and devoted friend and a faithful servant for the Lord. Her faith was deep and unwavering. She loved to read, sew and clean house.

Virginia is predeceased by her late husband, Jerry; and her daughter, Mary Sterns Gombos.

She is survived by her sons, Reggie Sterns (Cindy) and Mark Sterns (Rebecca); her stepsons, Bill Gannaway (Donna), Jerry Carris (Lynette) and Neal Carris (Marjie); and her daughter-in-law, Linda Carris. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

A memorial service in her honor will be held at the Collison Carey-Hand Funeral Home on East Plant Street in Winter Garden at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 17.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Vitas Hospice, which cared for Virginia with skill and compassion during the last year of her life.
