Ocoee commission meeting set for Feb. 7

1. First reading: Amendment of city code to include special assessment district

Tonight, Ocoee commissioners will consider the first reading for item no. 12, which details a proposed ordinance to amend chapter 115 of the city's Code of Ordinances by establishing a citywide special assessment district to provide the city a cost recovery mechanism. Currently, the city's attempts to recover costs are limited to placing a lien on a property. This proposed citywide special assessment district would be limited only to properties with an unpaid code enforcement abatement invoice. These properties would be included in the assessment roll provided to the Orange County Property Appraiser as part of the annual property tax billing cycle. The second reading/public hearing for this proposed ordinance will be held during Feb. 21 commission meeting at Ocoee City Hall.

2. First reading: Preliminary Final Site Plan for The Park at 429 PUD

Also up for discussion is item no. 10 on the agenda, which concerns the preliminary final site plan for The Park at 429. The Park at 429 is a planned unit development project situated on a 45-acre parcel located on the north side of Palm Drive, on the west side of State Road 429, and on the east side of East Crown Point Road. The applicant wishes to develop the property with a light industrial/flex office development consisting of five buildings totaling 645,000 square feet. The development will have five entry points: two on Palm Drive and three on East Crown Point Road.

3. First reading: Silver Star Road PUD

In addition, city leaders will examine a proposed ordinance for the annexation, rezoning, land use plan and preliminary subdivision plan for the Silver Star Road planned unit development. This 10.91-acre residential development will be located on undeveloped property on the south side of Silver Star Road, east of Johio Shores Road and west of Good Homes Road. The applicant, which has requested to develop the property with 43 single-family homes, is seeking a future land use designation of Low Density Residential – which allows up to 4 dwelling units per acre – and a rezoning classification from Orange County Agriculture to City of Ocoee Planned Unit Development.
