Tonight’s Ocoee City Commission meeting at 7:15 p.m. in City Hall will see five items. Three of those items are detailed below.

1. Item No. 5: Approval of prioritization of Capital Projects List

City Commissioners will be presented with a staff-recommended, downtown master plan capital projects list ranked by priority for funding. Funding for the projects will come from a general fund bond issue. The adopted fiscal year 2016-17 budget includes funds budgeted for a debt service payment that could support up to a $25 million bond issue. Tonight will see City Commissioners’ final decision on this item.

2. Item No. 4: Approval to piggyback off the City of Callaway’s contract with a utility installation company for the Oboe’s Citywide water meter upgrade project

The City of Ocoee has made plans for a big project: To upgrade or replace a total of 9,000 existing water meters to smart meters. Commissioners will vote on whether to approve or disapprove piggybacking off of a 2015 meter installation contract between Utility Solutions of America, Inc. and the City of Callaway, Fla., because the USA intends to extend the same terms and conditions of their Callaway contract two the City of Ocoee. The total estimated cost to complete the mass installation project is $2,365,300. The City’s funding availability for the project is $2,440,283. Exactly $1,115,283 of that funding is generated funding from a cost-share grant awarded to the City of Ocoee by SJRWMD, $1,250,000 stems from 2016 utility bond issuance proceeds and $75,000 from the Lake Olympia Neighborhoods Reclaim Retrofit Project.

3. Item No. 3: Approval of contractor for Downtown and West Sanitary Transmission project (North of Silver Star Road phase)

The Commission will be voting on which company to contract for the Downtown & West Sanitary Transmission Project. The city received five bids for the project ranging from $2,874,443 to $5,988,049.60. The city’s utilities department has recommended Commissioners to approve ta contract from the lowest bidder: SanPik, Inc.
