Orange County has lifted its 10 p.m. nightly curfew, effective immediately.

"The purpose of the curfew was to prevent the further spread of COVID-19," county officials wrote on the county's Twitter feed. "With demonstrators wearing face masks and social distancing, there is no need to continue the curfew."

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings implemented the curfew Sunday, May 31, following a day and evening of protests related to the death of George Floyd. Exemptions to the curfew were residents going to/leaving work; first responders; and medical emergencies.
