Police: Homicide suspect shoots himself in West Orange Big Lots

The man is the suspect in the June 6 death of Capucine Carson.

The suspect of a June 6 shooting death of a woman shot himself inside a West Orange-area Big Lots tonight.

According to Orange County Sheriff’s Office reports, at 7:52 p.m. Monday, June 7, deputies attempted to make contact with the suspect in connection to the death of Capucine Carson on Wellesley Lake Drive. The suspect, a 37-year-old black man, ran into the Big Lots store, 751 Good Homes Road, Orlando, where he shot himself.

Orange County Fire Rescue responded and transported him to a local hospital in critical condition. 

The day before, deputies responded to the 8700 block of Wellesley Lake Drive regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located two shooting victims — Carson, 37, and a 3-year-old child. Carson was pronounced dead at the scene. The child was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. 

According to deputies, the suspect knew the victims.
