There was no shooting in downtown Winter Garden, police say

Investigators are looking into a bomb hoax on Plant Street that occurred Friday night.

Diners and shoppers were scrambling for cover Friday evening after rumors spread of a shooting in downtown Winter Garden. Winter Garden Police Capt. Scott Allen said there was no shooting, but a hoax bomb threat had been made.

According to multiple Facebook posts, folks along Plant Street ran inside local businesses, and several businesses were on lockdown during the incident.

Allen said police are continuing to investigate.
