West Orange's female grads learn self-defense

The Florida Fitness Center – Home of Extreme SWAT MMA, of Winter Garden, recently conducted a self-defense and safety awareness workshop for the women of West Orange High School’s Class of 2014.

Participants were taught various safety tips and ways to avoid dangerous situations and practiced ways to fend off attackers. The women also were encouraged to learn more about safety and self-defense by taking a class during the summer or in their freshman year of college.

“We wanted the girls to know what it’s like living away from their parents and living in the real world,” said Jeffrey Montalbano, owner of the Florida Fitness Center.

From 6-8 p.m. Sunday, June 29, the Fitness Center will host a rape prevention and self-defense seminar for women at its facility at 1319 Green Forest Court. For more information, call Montalbano at 407-488-7672.
