Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens in Winter Park is seeking enthusiastic and extremely appreciated volunteers who would love to work in a beautiful and tranquil setting. Volunteers interested in assisting with Reception, Gift Shop & Docent positions are invited to come to our 2010-2011 Season Orientation to be held on Aug. 11. Calling for artists to participate in the Orlando Museum of Art's 1st Thursday event on Sept. 2: "Eclectic Knights II". This UCF Art Alumni Chapter annual event will represent the best UCF alumni and faculty has to offer from a variety of mediums. The deadline to submit is Sunday, Aug. 8. Winter Park resident Helmut Dungan held her 10th birthday party at Lilly Pulitzer in Winter Park on July 29. Instead of birthday gifts, Helmut asked that donations be made to Loggerhead Marinelife Center. Lilly Pulitzer also donated 10 percent of the day's sales to the Center. In total, Helmut raised $1,045 for the endangered turtles.

Historic Mount Vernon welcomed Dawn Dunham, from Maitland Middle School, to participate in a free weeklong program in July to further learn about the life and times of George Washington. "The teachers institute was a wonderful learning opportunity for me," said Dunham. "I am looking forward to sharing this information with my students at Maitland Middle School." After a great deal of planning, meetings and discussion, the Maitland Art and History Association is happy to announce the launching of a new look for the Maitland Art Center's website: www.maitlandartcenter.org. Under direction and guidance of UCF Professor Robert Reedy, students met with staff to help build an initial framework, then added text and photographs to offer more visual appeal for all to explore and enjoy.
