On March 13, Jewish Family Services of Greater Orlando honored Harriett Lake and her “can-do” attitude. Harriett’s CANCAN, held at Maison & Jardin, featured cancan dancers from the Orlando Ballet, a unique silent auction and a festive atmosphere. Proceeds benefit JFS programs and services, including stocking the pantries to feed hungry families in the Central Florida area.

The North Orlando Sunshine Moms is a dynamic group of mothers and their children who recently participated in the Winter Park St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The group has play dates 5-6 days a week all over the North Orlando area, meeting at parks, libraries and private homes. E-mail [email protected]

Fannie Hillman + Associates and about 1,000 of its clients and friends attended the company’s annual office patio party benefiting children at Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida. Fannie Hillman raised more than $5,700 and filled a van it had leased with baby-oriented items.

The Maitland Men’s Club is holding their annual Garage Sale on Friday and Saturday, May 6-7, at 640 S. Orlando Ave. Proceeds are designated for eye, dental and medical care for local children. The names of needy recipients are provided by local school social workers. Drop off things at the sale site any Saturday morning between 8 a.m. to noon. The Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts received another gift. Winter Park residents Michael and Deborah Sciarrino have pledged $1 million toward the project’s endowment. Pictured is Deborah Sciarrino.

Tickets going on sale

The Edgewater High School Foundation is pleased to announce that 12 outstanding men and women will be inducted into the Inaugural EHS Hall of Fame at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 30. Tickets to the reception, dinner and induction may be purchased at Edgewater High School for $75. Sponsorship of a table for eight is $1,000. Proceeds from the sale of tickets to the Inaugural EHS Hall of Fame will be given to the Edgewater High School Foundation to help fund scholarships for Edgewater students, equipment and projects, and for staff and faculty development. Rhodes+Brito Architects, based in Orlando, was recently commissioned to design the gateway monument that will mark the 125th anniversary of the historic Town of Eatonville. The 60-foot gateway monument will feature a clock and the town seal. A custom steel truss supported by brick pilings will span Kennedy Boulevard.
