No injuries in Winter Park cemetery standoff

The Glenhaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Winter Park was the scene of a standoff with a man who said he was suicidal on Friday, Aug. 10. No one was injured.

Winter Park Police say Daniel Thomas Austin, 32, armed with a Glock semi-automatic handgun, threatened to kill himself at the cemetery on Temple Drive. The 911 caller reported that the suspect had fired shots into the air.

At one point in the negotiation with police, police say Austin pointed his gun at an officer. He surrendered after less than two hours and was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer.
