With the help of Mickey Mouse and cast members, Walt Disney World Resort awarded $1.5 million in grants to 59 organizations that help enrich the lives of Central Florida kids. Orange County recipients include: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Florida, the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, the Early Learning Coalition of Orange County, the Apopka Family Learning Center, Harbor House, Hope Community Center, Orlando Rep, Orlando Ballet, Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, Orange County Library System, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central Florida and Orange County Public Schools. Orlando-based Clean the World has partnered with Gaylord Hotels to recycle items at all four Gaylord properties in North America, including Orlando. Clean the World projects the partnership will allow them to collect nearly 447,000 soap bars and 62,500 pounds of bottled amenities each year for distribution to children and families in homeless shelters, women’s shelters and rescue missions.
