Train lovers rejoice: in less than a month SunRail will begin selling its first tickets for would-be commuters. The announcement came during a Jan. 30 presentation at the Alfond Inn in Winter Park, with officials giving a preview of the series of firsts and grand openings to come in the next few months for Central Florida’s first commuter rail system.

On March 3 Winter Park’s new SunRail station will be the first of 12 stops to be unveiled. By May 1, the trains will be off and running.

The rail system will offer a seamless, free transfer service to LYNX buses, allowing riders from as far away as Maitland to ride to Orlando International Airport for $2.

“One can argue that [trains] forever changed our city,” Winter Park Mayor Ken Bradley said during the presentation. “I believe SunRail will do that again.”
