Civic Center gets a makeover

The Maitland Civic Center has taken on a new face, an effort to return to its status as the venue its community can rely on for their special events, such as graduations, birthdays, anniversaries and weddings. The center introduces a new tagline, “Venue on the Lake.” On May 1, new Executive Director George Williston took the helm and moved the Venue on the Lake to a new level with community dinners, events and fundraisers. Senior Place means business

One Senior Place in Altamonte Springs was recognized for its positive impact on the community during the Small Business Celebration and Awards gala on May 7. Presented by the Seminole County Regional Chamber of Commerce, the B2C Business of the Year title was bestowed on the senior resource center based on its growth, community involvement, innovation, continuity, diversity and company history. The category was open to small businesses that provide direct services to consumers. One Senior Place is home to a wide variety of senior-focused businesses and a resource library, and it’s the site of daily events and activities for seniors.
