Steven Sotloff will be remembered on the campus he called his home tonight, at a vigil in his honor. The journalist was confirmed slain by Islamic militants in a video released Tuesday.

Sotloff attended the University of Central Florida from 2002-04 and also wrote for the Central Florida Future newspaper. He would leave the school his junior year and embark on a career that would take him overseas to report on some of the world's deadliest conflicts, writing from the front lines of a war in Syria, where he would be taken hostage.

The memorial vigil will be held starting at 9 p.m. tonight (Sept. 3) at the school's reflecting pond between MIllican Hall and the school's library.

Bring American flags, signs, lights to the event.
