Do not pass go, do not collect $200, go straight to votemonopoly.com and vote for Maitland to land its own space on Monopoly’s next game board.

The world’s other Maitland, in New South Wales, Australia, is spearheading a campaign to put Maitland — and theoretically all the world’s Maitlands — on the map. Monopoly is partnering up with BuzzFeed to offer a contest asking voters to pick their favorite cities to be featured on the next Monopoly Here & Now game board. Voting runs today through Monday, March 9.

Maitland isn’t one of the provided options, so in order to make your vote count you need to go to the website, click on the "Vote for World Cities" button in the bottom right, click on "Vote For Your City," and then "Add It Here." Enter the city name into the provided box, and click vote. You're able to do so as many times as you'd like between now and March 9.

The Maitland Mercury newspaper in Australia is encouraging those in support of the monopolization of Maitland to use the hashtag #Maitland4Monopoly on social media to support the cause.

As Peter Blackmore, the mayor of Maitland in Australia, told the Maitland Mercury, “It’s time for Maitland to roll double sixes.”
