OAKLAND

FEB. 27

JAIL FRAUD

500 block of East Oakland Avenue. Fraud. At noon, an officer met a complainant who found $720.97 of Visa credit card charges from the time he was in jail, Feb. 20-21. The card was in possession of the Orange County Department of Corrections at that time. Based on this and no permission for anyone to use his card, the complainant signed a statement declaring the charges fraudulent.

MARCH 2

BUSH LEAGUE

1300 block of West Pointe Vilas Boulevard. Drunken Driving. At 3:09 a.m., an officer responded to the scene of a car that crashed into bushes along a fence. The driver had an empty beer in his left hand, which he gave to the officer upon request. A bystander said the car was still in drive. The driver grabbed for the keys in the ignition, but the officer told him to stop and then parked the car and took the keys. The driver insisted he was unhurt and was left with Winter Garden Police.

FEB. 22

TECHNICAL FOUL

3000 block of McCormick Woods Drive. Battery. An Ocoee police officer responded to a complainant, who said her fiance had grabbed her throat, threatened her while showing a gun and took her phone when she wanted to call police. The complainant’s daughter called police after the man left the residence, where the engaged couple had lived five years. The abuse stemmed from an argument at a college basketball game, after which the choking and brandishing occurred in the car with a threat to kill her if she did not stay. Although the man had her phone, the complainant answered by her Bluetooth earpiece and told her daughter to meet at the residence. The couple decided he would immediately move out. He took four hours to do so, threatening to kill both females with his gun in the process. Police officers later charged the suspect with false imprisonment, victim tampering and battery and assault — both aggravated with a deadly weapon.
