DEC. 14

500 block of East Oakland Avenue. Driving while license suspended. A truck failed to fully stop at a stop sign at 11:49 a.m., so an officer stopped it. The driver offered an apology and an Honduras paper with his name, saying he had no license. A check indicated three convictions from 2008 to 2013 of driving with a suspended license, so the officer arrested the driver and left the vehicle with the passenger, who owned it and had a valid license. The passenger said she had not been driving because the suspect did not like her driving.

DEC. 16

Old Winter Garden and Maguire roads. Drunken driving. An officer saw a fast-traveling car ultimately engulfed in tree branches at about 12:30 a.m. on the side of Old Winter Garden Road. Ocoee Fire Department personnel cut the branches so the driver could exit. The driver said he needed no medical attention and initially refused sobriety tests, but legal information changed his mind. During his one-leg stand, the driver struggled to count and said that was because of dyslexia. Officers arrested the driver on DUI charges and issued five citations. His blood-alcohol level was .129.

DEC. 27

2500 block of Laurel Blossom Circle. Threatening an officer. At 2:49 p.m., an officer made numerous attempts to alert the owner of a house with excessively loud music of this noise violation citation. The owner finally met him at the door and then followed the officer to the patrol car, upset with this news. The owner snatched the citation and then threw it on the ground, saying he would see the officer in court and that he paid the officer’s salary. As he walked toward his house, he said, “I will shoot your head off,” so the officer called for backup and then subdued and arrested the owner. Backup searched the man and found a concealed weapon permit. In his holding cell, the man complained of asthma issues, so officials transported him to a hospital.
