WINTER GARDEN

Nov. 11, 14221 block of W. Colonial Drive: At 9:40 p.m., an officer performed a traffic stop on a green SUV driving with the headlights off. Upon request of a driver's license, the suspect said she did not possess one, but she provided a Mexico ID card. When the passenger was asked for identification, she handed over a North Carolina ID card that had a birth date of June 29, 2016. In addition to the incorrect birth date, the ID card had an incorrect name, and the ID number returned results belonging to a deceased man. When asked how she acquired the ID card, the passenger said she obtained it through a notary who works at a restaurant in North Carolina. 

OCOEE

Nov. 15, 1215 block of Hawthorne Cove Drive: At 2:45 p.m., a neighbor reported a burglary in progress. The neighbor stated she saw a black woman bang on the doors to a nearby residence, but no one answered. The neighbor then witnessed the woman return to a vehicle. Two men then exited the vehicle, kicked down the doors, and seen leaving with a brown briefcase and other items.

Upon arrival to the scene, responding officers did not find anything out of the ordinary besides the doors, which had broken lock mechanisms. An officer then stopped a vehicle matching the neighbor's description three miles away. A young child was present in the car at the time. The neighbor positively identified two of the four suspects. The homeowner also arrived and identified the items in the car as being his. All four suspects were placed under arrest and the child was placed in the care of a family member.

OAKLAND

Nov. 11, 16131 block of W. Colonial Drive:  At 10:54 a.m., two law enforcement officers stopped a black sedan speeding at 64 mph. When one of the officers approached the vehicle he noticed the smell of cannabis and asked the passenger to step out of the car. The passenger obliged, nearly falling over because he was a disabled adult who needed the assistance of a walker. As the passenger desperately tried to communicate something the officer did not immediately comprehend, the officer determined he had limited communication abilities.

Eventually, the shaking and "distraught" passenger, pointed to his pocket, trying to show the officer the half-shoved bag of cannabis in it. When asked if it was his, the passenger shook his head repeatedly. The passenger pointed to the driver's seat and then the driver, who scowled at the passenger. It was determined the driver had attempted to hide the cannabis on the passenger, a ward of the state who has cerebral palsy. The passenger was under the care of the driver, who is an employee of a local home care agency. 

WINDERMERE

Nov. 12, Conroy Windermere Road: At 10:08 p.m., an officer noticed a man driving a scooter and "swerving in a serpentine manner" while traveling eastbound on Sixth Avenue. The officer performed a traffic stop. When the man was asked if he had any weapons in his possession, the man said he had an insulin needle in his pocket. When asked if he was insulin-dependent, the man replied he was not, but he had just done some “Oxy” earlier that day.

When the officer searched the scooter’s storage compartments, the man insisted he be allowed to unlock and open them. When opening a compartment, the man quickly reached for his wallet and placed it in his pocket. At this point, the officer and an assisting backup officer secured the man's arms and retrieved the wallet, finding multiple small bags containing 20 pills of Xanax and a total of 2.3 grams of heroin.
