Orange County Commission District 1 candidate Robert “Bobby” Olszewski received his latest endorsement from Mable Butler, a former Orange County and City of Orlando Commissioner.

Butler, who served 8 years as the County's first black commissioner from 1990 to 1998, cited Olszewski’s "accomplished record of inclusive community service" as her main reason for endorsing Olszewski.

"I am proud to endorse Bobby Olszewski for Orange County Commission in District 1,” said Butler, according to a campaign press release. “His accomplished record of inclusive community service is exactly what we need.  I have no doubt that he will put residents and community first and I encourage Orange County District 1 residents to vote Bobby O."

Olszewski conveyed appreciation for the moral support from the former Orange County and City of Orlando Commissioner.

"It is an honor to have the support of such an influential community icon like Commissioner Mable Butler. I am humbled by the confidence that she has shown in me and our Orange County commission campaign," wrote Olszewski, in the release.

Olszewski is running against business development manager and Oakland resident Betsy VanderLey, and both recently participated in a debate held at the Tiger Bay Club of Central Florida. The runoff election will take place Tuesday, Nov. 8.
