Windermere High sophomore Trey Moss has been part of the school’s basketball program since he arrived on campus. In his first year, the standout point guard led the team in total assists with 115, in addition to picking 137 rebounds and 32 steals. When he’s not on the court, he can be found playing video games.

How old were you when you started playing basketball?

I’ve been playing basketball since I was about 3 years old. That’s when I first picked up the ball. My dad just kind of gave me the basketball, and I fell in love with (the game).

What’s the season been like so far this year?

It’s been fun. There’s been a lot of learning experiences and a lot of lessons. (I’ve) just been growing as a person on and off the court.

What are some techniques you’ve learned this year?

I learned how to play the pick and roll. I learned how to hustle better and just get better defensively and follow through on my jump shot.

What’s something about your game that you need to work on and improve?

My defense (is what) I need to work on.

What’s your favorite aspect about the sport?

Any problem I have just goes away (when I’m on the court). I don’t think about anything else but playing and wanting to win and wanting to win for my team.

What’s your favorite team? Who’s your favorite player?

My favorite team is Cleveland — the Cleveland Cavaliers. My favorite player, though, is John Wall.

Is there a player you admire?

Chris Paul. (I like) his mentality. He gets the whole team involved and gets everybody going. He’s a true point guard. He’s a facilitator.

Do you have a favorite basketball memory?

There’s a lot — I can’t just pick one.

What’s your favorite post-game meal?

Right after a game, my favorite meal would probably be just simple burgers and fries.

What’s your favorite subject in school?

English.

You still have a couple of years in high school, but do you know what you want to study in college?

I want to major in engineering.

How do you like to relax?

I listen to music, and I like to hang out with my friends. I used to skateboard a lot.

Do you still skate? If not, why?

No, not anymore. (I stopped) because you get hurt doing that. If you twist your ankle, you’re out for like a week or two. I’m not trying to do that.

What’s your New Year’s resolution?

Get in the gym more, work on my craft and make sure that every time I shoot, I’m holding my follow through. … Just to be a more consistent shooter.
