Whispering Oak Wildcats gathered thousands of cans of non-perishable goods in a food drive that will benefit local families.
The school held its annual food drive from Nov. 11 to 20, and the Wildcats were able to collect about 4500 non-perishable goods. One student even donated a whopping 283 cans of food on his own. The food will be going to Southeastern Food Bank and will feed local families in need.
“Having the kids do (the food drive) teaches them about helping others because sometimes they don’t there’s a need out there,” said Instruction Coach Cathy Moore, who leads the food drive every year. “It makes me feel proud that we’re able to give back to our local community.”
