A project to add a little extra color to downtown Winter Garden is in need of artists.

The City, in partnership with the Winter Garden Art Association, has issued a call to artists for the Public Art Mural Pilot Project. Three sites in the historic downtown district have been selected for the mural project. Those sites are located at 49 S. Main St., the intersection of South Boyd Street. and Plant Street. and the SoBo Art Gallery at 127 S. Boyd St.

The goal of the mural project is to build community pride, encourage a stronger community identity and to drive pedestrian traffic to some key streets in downtown Winter Garden like Main, Boyd, Joiner, and Tremaine Streets.

The WGAA is assisting in the call to artists and selection process. Qualified artists are invited to submit their proposals for up to three murals to be placed or painted on the walls at the three sites. Individuals interested in answering the call to artists have until March 24 to submit samples of their art work to the WGAA.
