Winter Garden police are looking for the drivers involved in a traffic homicide that occurred early Thursday morning. Police responded to a call at 5:49 a.m. at the intersection of Ninth and Smith streets regarding a man on a bicycle who had been struck by a vehicle. The man, whose name is being released until family has been notified, was wearing black clothing and riding a black bicycle with no lights, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police say the victim was hit by one vehicle and then run over by several others.

“Several of the vehicles involved did not remain on the scene, and it is believed that based on the time of day, the dark clothing and the lack of light that these individuals may not be aware of what they struck,” police said.

Drivers who think they might be involved in this incident are asked to contact Master Police Officer Nathan Cameron of the Winter Garden Police Department, (407) 656-3636. Anyone with information is asked to contact him as well.
