Florida Virtual School to offer new courses to develop student's workforce skills

Environmental science featuring the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, cybersecurity essentials and introduction to hospitality and tourism are among the many new courses the school will offer.

The Florida Virtual School will be offering a series of new classes focused on developing the workforce skills of students starting in the upcoming 2021-221 school year.

Overall there are eight programs that students will be able to take, which includes: Environmental science featuring the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, cybersecurity essentials and introduction to hospitality and tourism, Agricultural Communications 2, Hebrew 1, M/J Visual Art 1, M/J Visual Art 2, Advanced Placement (AP) Capstone Diploma Program and Cambridge AICE Diploma Program.

"The new courses at FLVS are preparing students for the most in-demand jobs globally, which according to the same Employment Outlook Survey, includes positions in IT and data, operations and logistics, marketing and sales, and manufacturing and production," FLVS stated in a press release. "The courses are now open for enrollment and are a mix of core and elective courses for grades 6-12 (and) tuition-free for Florida students."
