Oakland Avenue Charter School partnered with students in West Orange High School’s National Honor Society to collect gently used shoes for needy adults and children in Honduras.

NHS shared with OACS the process for sending the shoes to Central America to give the students an understanding of the dire need for them.

OACS students learned the school raises funds to ship the shoes, and it costs about $3,000. Once the shoes arrive in Honduras, a representative picks them up with a horse and buggy and delivers them to churches in the villages. From there, the churches provide the shoes to the villagers.
