The Bloom & Grow Garden Society is holding another giveaway of pink tabebuia trees from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4. The free trees will be handed out to Winter Garden residents at the city facility at 238 W. Smith St., behind Crooked Can Brewery.

Residents must show their driver’s license for address verification. Each household can receive one three- to four-foot tree in a three-gallon pot; additional trees can be purchased for $15.

The award-winning Plant it Pink initiative aspires to cover Winter Garden with the blooms of the pink trumpet tree, which blooms in early spring. The tree is resplendent with pink trumpet-shaped flowers that cover the ground when they fall.

"Just as Washington, D.C., has cherry blossoms, we hope that Winter Garden will be ablaze with pink trumpets for many years to come,” garden club members said.
