FOODIE CALL: Cheng’s Asian Bistro

It was while sitting in a cozy booth at Cheng's Asian Sushi Bistro (10962 W. Colonial Drive, Ocoee) several months ago that the idea for a weekly food review highlighting small local businesses first took root in my mind. I contemplated how many amazing businesses filled our community with their amazing food, drink and dessert offerings. Not only that, these small businesses, often family-run, offer some of the most authentic and friendly service one can find. They take the risk to bring to life a dream of serving our community and compete with mega organizations with millions of dollars to spend on winning your attention. It was while sitting at Cheng’s I dreamed of way to get you, the reader, to support small, amazing businesses. 

Finding Cheng’s was a serendipitous discovery! Before indulging in an ice cream from Twistee Treat located just in front of Chengs, my younger son and wife needed some more solid food to fill their belly before enjoying a sweet treat. We stopped into Cheng’s for a quick fix. Little did we know, Cheng's would soon become a household favorite first for their food, then for their service. 

That first encounter left us astounded. A simple to-go order surpassed our expectations, leaving us craving more. Upon returning for dinner, we were met with the same exceptional quality of food, prompt service and genuine care from the staff.

What sets Cheng's apart is its unwavering commitment to hospitality. While many establishments focus solely on service times or drink refills, Cheng's consistently goes above and beyond. Each visit feels like being welcomed into a friend's home, where every guest is treated with familiarity and respect.

As someone deeply involved in service training and development, I can attest to the challenge of maintaining such a high level of care. Cheng's effortlessly strikes the balance between efficiency and warmth, creating an environment where patrons feel like honored guests.

But let's talk about the star of the show: the food. It’s simply outstanding. From the first bite of crispy fried dumplings to fresh sushi and hearty bento boxes, every dish is a masterpiece. Simply put, you can’t go wrong. The chefs at Cheng's have perfected the art of Asian cuisine, delivering dishes that are not only delicious but also beautifully presented with great effort and care.
