Following an arrest on Jan. 21 and first-degree misdemeanor battery charge, a teacher is back in the classroom at Chain of Lakes Middle School.

According to an Orlando Police Department arrest report, Tiffany Rollins faces charges of battery after an altercation at her home in MetroWest. According to the report, Rollins was accompanied by the victim to pick up her medication from a store, and upon returning, Rollins became aggressive once she noticed the medication was wrong.

Rollins allegedly struck the victim in the face, making contact. The victim then locked himself in a bedroom out of fear, the report states. However, Rollins broke into the room and struck the victim again using a two-by-four.

The victim made his way out of the residence and called the police. Once police arrived, Rollins told officers she never hit the victim with anything, but the victim pushed her against the window, grabbed her hair and scratched her face, the report states.

The officers did not see any visible signs of physical injury on Rollins and said both Rollins and the victim appeared to be intoxicated.

Rollins was released from jail Jan. 22 after posting $500 bail.

According to Orange County Public Schools spokesperson Wendy Roundtree, the district’s Office of Professional Standards is aware of the arrest. However, internal investigations are not done unless the victim also is an OCPS employee or student.

Roundtree confirmed Rollins returned to her post at Chain of Lakes following the arrest.
