The FHSAA tallied up the projected points average for each team in the state series system Oct. 3, giving the high-school football community in Florida its first taste of what the postseason process will shape up like as the season continues through its midway point.

Below, we have the regional standings for regions in Classes 5A-8A that include teams covered by Observer Preps (bolded).

Though the release of the points projections through Oct. 3 is handy, it cannot paint a complete picture at this point in the season for Classes 5A-8A, which still have districts.

In the final playoff selection process, district champions automatically earn playoff spots, with district champions continuing to be determined by records within the district.  There are four districts in every region, and so those four champions will earn the top four seeds in each region’s playoffs. The other four spots are being awarded based upon points standings.

However, since it is only midway-point of the season and many teams have played only one or two district games, we have arranged the standings by region, with the teams in descending order based only on points average.

A break occurs in each region after the top-eight, to give a general idea of who would likely make the playoffs — though, as mentioned, this is not accounting for district standings yet at this point in the season.
