The penultimate conference series for the Tars on the baseball diamond ended in a series loss after a 1-8 trouncing at the hands of Nova Southeastern on May 4. Thursday and Friday they’ll look to take a final series before the postseason begins.

They’ll be looking to erase the bad memories of an unusual series featuring a 9-8 Rollins win that was bookended by a pair of blowout losses.

In a rare shelling, starter Anthony Figliolia gave up eight earned runs in just three innings of game one, striking out three in the process. His relief wasn’t much help, with seven more runs up on the board by the time the game was done.

In game two, a massive early lead by the Tars was nearly undone by two late NSU rallies, but closer Eric Morse managed to hang on for a 9-8 win after giving up a leadoff homer in the ninth. Zach Persky launched a two-run shot en route to three hits in the game.

In their final game Rollins starter Isaiah Sakany struck out four but gave up four runs, while the Tars managed just one run in return to finish out the doubleheader.

The Tars (23-21-1, 8-12-1) travel to Lakeland on Thursday and Friday for three games against Florida Southern, starting at 3 p.m. Thursday.
