Wildcats dominate

With only a few weeks left before the Wildcats take the football field for the 2010 season, they've been showing some strong skills in the summer, with a recent win at a 7-on-7 football tournament, just one of many to add to their impressive 44-1 record.

Winter Park's Sam Richardson has dominated as a passer during the summer months, leading his team to wins across the state at exhibitions and tournaments, including the Florida Premier 7s tournament, where they won 48-38 over Melbourne Palm Bay.

Will the Wildcats continue to transform into an offensive powerhouse? Time will tell as the team shuffles through a list of potential receivers to connect with Richardson downfield.

After losing star running backs Zee Ware and Patrick Mputu to graduation at the end of the 2009-10 season, the Wildcats have been looking for some speed and soft hands in the backfield.

Lee Dunham may be the new name on the highlight reel for the Wildcats, after he took two passes from Richardson to cap off the tournament, cementing a dominant summer for Winter Park.

Now returning to the gridiron after a few weeks of practice, the Wildcats have a hopeful season ahead of them.

Their first matchup of the season comes Sept. 3, as they travel to Winter Springs to face the Bears.

History's on the Wildcats' side. Last season they trounced the Bears 28-7 at home. This time they'll be in Bear Country. The last time they traveled to Winter Springs for a road opener in 2007, they were shut out 24-0.
