WINTER GARDEN — During the July 26 commision meeting, city leaders will consider a recommendation to set a proposed tentative millage rate at 4.50 mills, which is is 0.25 mills above the current millage of 4.25.

Commissioners may reduce this rate at later budget hearings, but they cannot increase it without restarting the process. Winter Garden commissioners will also decide whether to schedule the budget hearings at 6:30 p.m. on September 13 and 27 and consider a recommendation to approve PRMG to perform rate studies for water, sewer and stormwater. City staff is recommending the rate studies to determine if the current rates can sufficiently fund future projects related to utility and stormwater infrastructure. PRMG is proposing to do the stormwater rate study $15,000 and the water/sewer rate study for $39,000, the agenda says.

Commissioners will also consider a recommendation to approve a change order to L7 Construction Company for addition erosion protection pertaining to a stormwater capture and reuse project. Cost of the work is not to exceed $130,710.65.

Finally, city leaders will consider approval of a special event request pertaining to Crooked Can Brewery’s Oktoberfest celebration from October 19 to 21. Part of the request includes a closure of South Central Avenue, subject to conditions.
