MAY 1

The SunRail commuter rail system officially opens for business (and free rides) on May 1. Free rides will be available through May 16 to acquaint passengers with the service. Visit Sunrail.com for tickets and more information on train schedules.

The city of Winter Park and the Multifaith Education Project are proud to announce the 11th annual Trees for Peace Interfaith Tree Planting Project on Thursday, May 1, in Central Park West Meadow, located at 150 N. New York Ave. in downtown Winter Park. City officials will begin the ceremony at 8:45 a.m. with the program being led by Louise Franklin Sheehy, director of the Multifaith Education Project. This event was rescheduled from the original date of April 8, due to inclement weather.

More than 100 Christian, Jewish and Muslim students and faculty, representing The Geneva Christian School, the Jewish Academy and the Leaders Preparatory School, will join together to plant trees for peace.
