Six straight losses have plunged the UCF Knights men’s basketball team to near the bottom of the American Athletic Conference in the past week. The Knights lost to USF 79-78 after pushing the Bulls (12-11, 3-7) into overtime, giving the Knights a loss to every team in the AAC except Temple, who they defeated by two points on Jan. 4.

But the Knights (9-11, 1-8) still have time to recover, with 10 games remaining in conference play. In order to break .500 in conference play they’ll have to win eight of those games.

The Knights host UConn (17-4, 6-3) at 6 p.m. on Feb. 9.

Two thriller wins helped the Tars men’s basketball team to 10-9 overall and 4-5 in Sunshine State Conference play. The Tars pulled off an 82-76 overtime upset on Florida Southern Jan. 29, then hit the road for St. Leo and won on a Mitch Woods layup that provided the winning 61-59 margin. They’ll be home at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 12 against Florida Tech.

The Rollins Lady Tars (18-3, 7-2) are continuing to climb in the standings, rising to second place in the Sunshine State Conference after beating St. Leo 86-76 Feb. 1. After facing Tampa at press time Wednesday they travel to Eckerd at 2 p.m. Feb. 8.
