MARCH 2

The red carpet awaits you! Celebrate the biggest movie event of the year at Central Florida’s favorite independent theater. Experience the excitement of the 86th Academy Awards – its surprise wins and big upsets – amongst friends and fellow movie lovers. Enjoy dinner and drink specials, a paparazzi-lined red carpet, an Oscar pool, and the big show on Enzian’s big screen and outdoors at Eden Bar.

The party starts at 6:30 p.m. at Eden Bar with the preshow playing on the outdoor screen. Doors to the theater open at 7:30 p.m. This event is free to the public. Seating is first come first served. Table reservations cannot be made for this event. Visit enzian.org for more information.

MARCH 4

Get ready to Mardi at the Fat Tuesday Block Party and Parade in downtown Winter Park from 4:30 to 10 p.m. Tuesday March 4. It’s from 4:30 to 10 p.m. along New England Avenue with live jazz music, unlimited gumbo samples and a Mardi Gras parade at 7 p.m. Visit Orlandoeventsunlimited.com for more information and tickets.

MARCH 6

Save the date for the Economic Update Breakfast, focusing on the state of business after the great recession, from 7:45 to 9:15 a.m. on March 6. An economic overview will be provided by Dr. Bill Seyfried, professor of economics at Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business. Afterwards, Dr. Seyfried will moderate a panel discussion with local business leaders on "Life After the Great Recession." Registration deadline is Feb. 27, so act now. MARCH 7

It’s Date Night at Leu Gardens! See a classic movie or current feature film on one of the largest outdoor screens in Central Florida. Come early and enjoy a stroll in the 50-acre garden before the movie. Movies are shown the first Friday of every month from February through December (no movie in July). Pack a dinner picnic basket and a blanket or chairs, alcohol is permitted. Grilled items, popcorn and drinks are available for purchase. This month’s movie is “To Have and Have Not” starring Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. Garden admission is $6 for adults, $3 for children (K-12th grade) and free for Leu Garden Members, weather permitting. Leu Gardens is located at 1920 N. Forest Ave. in Orlando.
