On a breezy and cool night, Winter Park (12-10, 4-2) managed to come back from three runs down on senior night to defeat Trinity Prep (8-12, 3-3) in an exciting win.
Each team came out of the gate swinging, as both the Wildcats and Saints racked up two runs apiece in the first. Ethan Groff led things off with a monster shot over the fence that brought in two runs for the Saints, while the Wildcats scored off of a wild pitch and sac fly.
After a scoreless second, the Saints scored a lone run in the third inning off of an error by Wildcats' catcher Ryan Geffert.
But just as before, the Wildcats came right back with an answer as Tucker Marrillia crushed a ball over the left field wall to tie it up at 3-3.
In the fifth inning the Saints would break up the tie and go back ahead. With runners on first and second, Philip Clarke stepped to the plate and knocked a homer to center field — making it 6-3 Saints.
As had been the story all night, the Wildcats picked up two runs in the bottom of the fifth with a RBI single from Immanuel Bazares and a RBI double from Adrian Lucre tied the game at 6-6.
The Wildcats would finally find themselves up for good in the bottom of the sixth. After a double by Drew McMahan, Sidney Cash singled on a hard ground ball to left field — scoring McMahan in what would be the game winning run.
Next up for the Wildcats is a game at West Orange (7-14, 3-4) on Thursday, while the Saints will travel to the Master's Academy (15-6-1, 10-1-1) on Friday.
