A special group at Windermere Preparatory School is coming together to help families in need for Thanksgiving.

Windermere Prep Strength and Conditioning Coach Micah Kurtz, alongside 10 of his student athletes, are hosting a free community workout this weekend.

The goal of the workout is to help benefit, already identified, needy families in the Orlando area for Thanksgiving.

Those that are able to attend should bring donations in the form of canned goods, gift cards and more.

The donations will be distributed to the families on Monday, Nov. 22.

The 10 student athletes have been preparing for the community workout for the past eight weeks through a nationwide student leadership program.

"By participating and donating, you are able to make an impact on these families' lives and be part of creating their happy Thanksgiving," Kurtz said.

The workout is open to anyone interested and three different workouts will be available for different age levels.

The community workout, in partnership with the Play for Keeps organization, will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, at the school on Winter Garden Vineland Road.

"Anything is appreciated and we hope to see a great turnout to support an amazing cause," Kurtz said.
