HORIZON WEST A proton therapy center and medical campus will be coming to the Hamlin Town Center, Hamlin Retail Partners West and Provision Healthcare announced in a release

Hamlin Retail Partners West is an affiliate of Boyd Development Corporation and Schrimsher Properties.

Proton therapy centers provide advanced cancer treatments, using protons rather than X-rays in radiation treatments, with the goal that the protons will kill the cancer cells.

The therapy center will have three treatment rooms and estimates that 1,000 patients can be treated there each year.  Hamlin Retail Partners West and Provision Healthcare hope to have other medical office buildings on the campus to provide additional healthcare services.

“There are currently less than 25 proton therapy centers operating in the United States. The Hamlin proton center will be a great addition to the medical community and a real benefit to the residents of central Florida,” Scott Boyd, president of Boyd Development, said in the release.  “We look forward to Provision bringing their state of the art technology, along with their Culture of Care, to our central Florida community.”

Hamlin has an 850-acre mixed-use town center, which will eventually include a ten-screen Cinepolis luxury movie theater as well as a Publix and Walmart. Boyd Development Corporation recently announced apartments coming to the area.
