A scary first two innings weren't enough to shake off the Winter Park Wildcats, who won 11-5 over Lake Howell in pitcher Nate Winters' second start after coming back from a leg amputation 20 months ago.

The Silver Hawks jumped out to a 4-2 lead on a string of hits in the first two innings, but the Wildcats came roaring back in the third, going on a hitting streak to bring home 6 runs and grab a big lead they wouldn't relinquish.

The Wildcats are busy hosting the Class 6A District 4 tournament this week, which concludes with the championship game at 7 p.m. Friday.

A 12-1 slaughtering of Pine Ridge on Friday finished Trinity Prep's softball district run with a bang. Now district champs and with a 15-7 record heading into the regional tournament happening this week, the Saints are looking for redemption after losing out in the state final four last year when they were in Class 3A.

Now back down in 2A, they have a new set of postseason foes, though some may be familiar from their past. They played Mt. Dora Bible at press time, hoping for a regional semifinal berth come 7 p.m. Friday, with a location that's yet to be decided.
