Fire Station #45

Footers are complete and the elevator shaft has been waterproofed. Stem walls are complete and are being backfilled, and underground electrical conduits are being put in place. The soil under the main slab is being compacted, and the slab will be poured this week. The vehicle bay slab will be poured later in the construction schedule in order to allow it to be delivered in good condition. The water line adjacent to Packwood Avenue is being rerouted so it will not flow under either the City Hall or Fire Station buildings.

The retention pond that serves both buildings has been dug and graded and connected to the drainage system. Last week, it was hydro-seeded in order to stabilize it, and the seed has already sprouted. The special soil that will be placed around the Century Oak to encourage new roots has been delivered to the site and will be put in place next week.

City Hall

The 60 percent plans for City Hall were completed and reviewed by all the various design trades in a day-long meeting on April 6. The plans are currently being revised and are proceeding to the 90 percent completion stage.

The groundbreaking event for City Hall will take place on June 3 at 8:30 a.m. Independence Lane, immediately east of the new city hall site, is temporarily closed to accommodate construction of both city hall and the fire station. It will be re-opened in approximately one year when construction is complete.
