So it’s almost been 60 days since I started this challenge and I can honestly tell you it has been very revealing. It is no easy task trying to keep to eating clean and working out on a regular basis. I think the most important thing that I have learned is about my body and how different dieting and exercise affects me. Prior to this challenge I didn’t really have a “diet.” I ate what I felt like eating and would just work out to maintain the weight I was happy with. But your diet affects so much more than your weight. On the days I really stuck to eating healthy I felt better, I had more energy, and my confidence in myself was higher from the sense of accomplishment.

Knowing that you need to find a diet that works for YOU is a very valuable tool! I had hundreds of people giving me advice; telling me what foods to eat and what workouts give the best results. But my body is different than theirs and yours is different than mine. You need to try different things out. You need to find out how your body reacts to different foods. For example, for me I found that it’s best for me to stay away from salted foods. You have to think not just about your weight, but also think how your energy level, skin, sleep routine, and so much more changes with what we put into our system.

For example, a great friend of mine from Rollins College is now doing the Paleo diet. She looks incredible and her husband has lost over 100 pounds on it too. But I think one of the most important things she found out was that she has allergies to many foods and she never knew. Her body reacted differently to any foods with wheat’s in them. It is important to find out what works for you personally. Our bodies are constantly running on what we feed it and just like anything else the better you take care of your body the better it will run.

Once you figure out how your body reacts to diet and exercise you will know what you need to be doing to obtain your goals! I'm finally feeling like I am on my way to really getting the results I wanted, but it took this long to really figure it out.
