The best thing about facebook is obviously not its recent IPO!
No, the best part is what it enables you to do easily, conveniently and quickly. If you have a business and NOT on facebook, you are missing out on one of your absolute best opportunities to share your products and services with customers. Vice versa, if you're not on it as an individual, you're missing out on a great way to learn about Local events, offers and more. No matter the product or service, you can easily share it or often learn more about it on facebook.
As a business owner, how do you get your message out there on facebook? If someone tells you there’s a certain way, don’t listen to them. Nothing is written in stone and you should develop it in a way which compliments your other efforts, not compete with them. If you are intimidated by it in anyway, my suggestion is this: JUMP IN and just DO IT.
Several times this past week I’ve logged onto facebook to find gorgeous flower bouquets posted on my Wall. Your ‘Wall’ is basically your individual space on facebook, where you post but also your facebook “friends” can post. Who left the gorgeous flowers? Blooms of Winter Park, a Local florist which works with 1-800FLOWERS, but is Locally owned and operated. How much time did it take to post those on my Wall? SECONDS.
Facebook is EASY and I promise you if you are not on it as a business, you are missing opportunities. Need help? Contact me and I’ll be happy to help.
Tomorrow I’m meeting with some Local restaurant owners interested in maximizing their presence on facebook as they also modify some things they are working on within the restaurant. As you make such changes, there’s no better place to share than facebook. And, I have to say, I’m pretty excited about these changes and assisting with them. More on that next week.
Another thing I’m very excited about right now is really getting into a new partnership I’ve established with Nuvo Company, a credit card processing company based ON Park Avenue. They are LOCAL, just like me. Just like YOU!
My goals with ILUVWinterPark.com have been to be a positive, Local alternative to the national “deal” sites. I want to help Local businesses promote their products and services to Local residents and I do that for FREE. Those national sites mostly offer the opportunity to establish a new price point at less than half of regular price. And for that? You get half of those sales. Wow. How nice of them! Using them a business can get a lot of people through the door . . . . ones they may well never see again. Success . . . not. Except that you've now devalued your offerings.
So, I help promote Local businesses to Local residents for FREE so that hopefully YOU don't have to. As I like to tell people, try to be Apple, not Dell. I live here. I’m your neighbor. Most of these business owners are my neighbors as well. I like the idea of keeping a vibrant and interesting group of businesses around me because many are not only places I enjoy going myself, but, did you know supporting Local businesses also helps support Local real estate values. YES! Check this out: http://www.independentwestand.org/home-value-calculator/
With the credit card processing piece I want to help Local businesses SAVE money. Local is not always your best price, I’ll admit. But that’s NOT the case here! In fact, our Local option for credit card processing – from in-store to on-the-go – will BEAT what a business is currently paying – often times by a considerable amount – OR I will pay that business $300. Either way, I'm now going to help promote your business like never before. Yep! And on top of that, I’m pledging 10% of everything I make from this endeavor to Local no-kill shelter Pet Rescue by Judy. More on this to come, but of everything I’m trying to do to focus on Local, this is one of the things I’m most excited about. Judy Sarullo should have already been Sainted for her wonderful work. The idea of helping her, helping dogs and cats, THAT I truly do LUV!
On that note . . . time for Give A Dog A Home! Today we have Roxie, who's currently visiting with the wonderful folks at Pet Rescue by Judy. Roxie is a cutie, with a pretty good fashion sense, I think. Roxie is hoping to stay with her sister, Lucy. Their owner recently had to give them up after being diagnosed with brain cancer. These little angels have been dealt a difficult hand in life now, but YOU can help them, either by considering giving them a new home or sharing, so that others may see them . . . maybe fall in LUV! See more details on the Pet Rescue by Judy site, along with other dogs and cats now available: http://www.petrescuebyjudy.com/animals/detail?AnimalID=4474716
Winter Park . . . Maitland . . . . Casselberry . . . Baldwin Park . . . College Park and other smaller communities within our larger community, my efforts here are truly about trying to do something positive for our community, positive for our Local businesses.
Send me your ideas, your feedback and suggestions. Let’s CELEBRATE LOCAL together.
