I prefer to think of this as a completely ARTy weekend, rain-FREE!
Parker is hoping for that, as well, as he remembers hanging around outside Peterbrooke Chocolatier last year during the Winter Park Autumn Arts Festival with an umbrella and wearing Crocs! So, he’s got his talons crossed the majority of the wetness is now behind us.
Because this promises to be a VERY arty weekend!
First, hats off and paint brush salute to two Local talents and their new works created for the Amway Center. Larry Moore and Tony Savoie have both been putting final touches on wonderful new art this week. Each piece, I understand, will be on permanent display at the Amway Center, inspired by either the center itself or the Orlando Magic. CONGRATS, guys, on awesome work! And THANKS, Lynn Whipple, for the photos from facebook.
Tonight there are lots of art possibilities . . . . so pray for a drier evening than our afternoon. You’ve got the Baldwin Park First Friday Festival & Art Stroll tonight from 5:30 - 9:30 p.m. along New Broad Street in Baldwin Park. Over 40 local artists of all genres will display their works of art while guests shop, stroll and sip through the heart of downtown Baldwin Park.
Also tonight, Pumpkin Fest at Lake Ivanhoe Village from 6:00pm until 9:00pm, 1600-2000 blocks of N. Orange Avenue, just south of Princeton Street. Come out for fun, with a “Fall Open House”, stroll the Avenue, enjoy shopping, dining and music! Pumpkin drinks & desserts available for purchase. Pumpkin martinis, coffee, pie, gelato & latte. Come out for some fall fun!
And, of course, all weekend, the Maitland Rotary Arts Festival kicks off this evening and goes all weekend. Tonight from 6 to 10 around Lake Lily, with all ages invited to attend and no cost! Saturday, Oct. 6, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, October 7, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year will once again feature expanded evening hours. Admission is free, with proceeds from the sale of food, parking and festival posters to benefit local charities. Visit maitlandrotaryartfestival.com for more info.
Tomorrow . . . PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE consider turning out for Rescuing Animals In Need (RAIN) for their charity garage sale. Garage sales can be FUN and this one is for such a GREAT cause! It’s tomorrow from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1865 Linden Road in Winter Park. Come on out for a great cause AND invite your friends and neighbors!
Today on ILUVWinterPark.com I helped promote Halloween merchandise that’s already 20% OFF at the Bistro Loft Shop, upstairs at the Bistro on Park Avenue, in the Hidden Garden Courtyard. CUTE stuff, and already marked down! Grab dinner AND start decorating for Halloween!
One note. I know many people have asked me recently where to get yard signs and more for Local candidates and for Romney / Ryan and today I confirmed the Winter Park office is at the end of the Kmart Plaza off Lee Road. I got mine today, as well as a number for neighbors.
No ‘Give A Dog A Home’ tonight . . . . let’s try to give LOTS of dogs homes by going out tomorrow and supporting RAIN and their wonderful efforts!
Holy bricks and Spanish moss, have a great – and hopefully DRY – weekend!
