The Maitland City Council met on Aug. 12 at 6:35 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers. Below is a synopsis of that meeting.
Special Presentations:
Mayor Schieferdecker presented a Certificate of Welcome to Lauren Brown of Brown’s New York Deli.
Andrea Bailey Cox, director and CEO of Art & History Museums Maitland addressed the art currently displayed in the Council Chambers.
Old Business:
Dick Wells, Community Development Director, provided an update on the FlexBus project.
Public Hearings:
There were no scheduled public hearings.
Consent Items:
The minutes of the July 22, City Council Meeting and the minutes of the July 15 special session minutes were approved.
The minutes of the June 20 Planning and Zoning Commission were accepted.
The Council authorized the city manager to enter into a three-year agreement with Dr. Todd M. Husty for Medical Direction Services for fiscal year 2014 through FY 2016.
The Council authorized the city manager to enter into an agreement with Johnson, Mirmiran and Thompson, for additional survey and re-design of the Lake Sybelia Offline Retention Project.
Decision Items:
An ordinance was introduced on first hearing for Petition No. 2013-01, The Courtney at Lake Shadow, Planned Development Zoning Amendment and Development Plan; and the date for the public hearing was set for Aug. 26, 2013.
An Ordinance was introduced on first hearing for Petition No. 2013-02, 1000 Sanford Avenue, Homebuilders Association of Metro Orlando, Inc., PD Zoning Amendment; and the date for the public hearing was set for Aug. 26, 2013.
An Ordinance was introduced on first hearing for Petition No. 2013-03, 544 Mayo Avenue, the New Hope for Kids, PD Zoning Amendment; and the date for the public hearing was set for Aug. 26, 2013.
An Ordinance was introduced on first hearing for Petition No. 2013-04, Ohev Shalom, 613 Concourse Parkway South, PD Zoning Amendment; and the date for the public hearing was set for Aug. 26, 2013.
Discussion Items:
Mr. Chuck Jordan, leisure services director, presented the Council with information regarding pet owner responsibility.
Mr. Randy Nunley, finance manager, provided the Council with a presentation of the millage rate survey.
