City Council Meeting of Jan. 14
The Maitland City Council met Jan. 14 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers. Below is a synopsis of that meeting.
Consent:
• The minutes of the Dec. 10 Council meeting were approved as presented.
• Received the minutes of the Oct. 3 Parks & Recreation Advisory Board.
• Passed a resolution designating places of polling, opening & closing of polls and form of ballot for the General Municipal Election to be held on Tuesday, March 12.
• Authorized the City Manager to execute the Vote Processing Equipment Use Agreement & Elections Services Contract for Municipal Elections with the Orange County Supervisor of Elections for the March 12 General Municipal Election.
• Approved a budget adjustment to cover unanticipated election and Charter Review expenses.
• Approved a change order to the contract with Barracuda Building Corporation in the amount of $10,780.19 to cover additional expenses in excess of the Federal Grant received for the Safe Routes To Schools project.
• Approved the renewal of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and Seminole County Municipal Agency Mutual Aid Agreements.
• Authorized the purchase of a 2013 Chevrolet 3500 HD pick -up truck from Alan Jay Automotive Network for the Grounds Maintenance Division for $31,859.60.
• Authorized the appropriation of $26,300 from the Parks Trust Fund for the upgrade and renovation at Bellamy Park and the Maitland Baseball Complex.
• Denied permission for Mr. Fredric Wurtzel, 1770 E. Adams Drive, to connect to the existing city sewer system per City Code Section 20-41; and, granted him permission via letter to Orange County from the Public Works Department to obtain the permit necessary to repair the septic tank.
Decisions:
• Stephen Commins was reappointed to the Lakes Advisory Board effective Jan. 3, 2013 for a three-year term.
• Tabled the adoption of a resolution to accept ownership and maintenance responsibility of the Monroe Avenue FDOT ditch.
• Authorized the City Manager to enter into a contract with AVCON Inc. in the amount of $39,380 for the Utility Planning and Storm Pipe Construction Documents Phase for the four-block area to include Independence Lane, Horatio, George Avenue and Packwood.
• Introduced an ordinance on first reading to approve the proposed Voluntary Annexation of Don Reid Ford, including medians, and scheduled the Public Hearing date for adoption of the ordinance as Jan. 28, 2013.
• Advanced an ordinance, approving a second amendment to the Lease Agreement with the Maitland Art and History Association (MAHA), to second reading and public hearing, proposing to lease Lots 44 and 45, Sybelia Heights Subdivision, recorded in Plat Book “J,” page 22, Public Records of Orange County.
• Approved a 5 percent salary increase for the City Manager & City Clerk.
