Maitland Fire Rescue Department - New Engine 45
On July 19, the Maitland Fire Rescue Department proudly placed in service new Engine 45, a 2013 E-One Typhoon. This highly advanced apparatus replaces a 2003 Pierce Enforcer, which will now serve as a reserve apparatus.
Engine 45 is equipped with a 1750 GPM pump, 760 gallons of water, a 20-gallon, in-line foam system, inboard TNT vehicle extrication equipment, and 12-foot light tower. It also provides Advanced Life Support, and is staffed with four firefighter paramedics.
City Council Meeting of July 22, 2013
The Maitland City Council met on July 22, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers. Below is a synopsis of that meeting.
Special Presentation:
• Agar Quinones presented a PowerPoint on “Painting the Streets of Maitland with Creativity.”
Old Business:
• Dick Wells, community development director, provided an update on the FlexBus project.
• Jim Williams, city manager, gave an update on the Sandspur connection and Interstate 4 project and stated that FDOT will be performing traffic studies in the next several weeks.
Public Hearings:
• An ordinance was adopted for the Solid Waste Franchise Agreement.
• An ordinance was adopted for Petition No. 2013-01(ALU) 1000 Sanford Ave.
• An ordinance was adopted for the Traffic Light and Safety Act.
• The Amended and Restated Annexation and Development Agreement for The Courtney at Lake Shadow was rescheduled to a future meeting.
Consent Items:
• The minutes of the June 24, 2013 Council Library Budget Workshop & the July 8, 2013 City Council Meeting were approved.
• The minutes of the City Council Budget Workshop of July 15, 2013 were approved.
• The minutes of the Planning and Zoning Commission of April18, 2013, May 16, 2013 and June 6, 2013 were accepted.
• A resolution was adopted for an Appointment of Clerk to the Local Hearing Officer – Red Light Camera Infractions.
• A resolution was adopted for Complete Streets.
Decision Items:
• The Proposed Millage Rate (TRIM), date, time and place for the public hearing was set.
• There was one new appointment to the Board of Zoning Adjustments.
