Nespresso masters
Rollins College Crummer Graduate School of Business has announced that the school’s team won the highly competitive international Nespresso MBA Challenge that took place last week in Lausanne, Switzerland. Thirty-two teams from 20 countries participated in the competition. Each submitted a proposal in response to the challenge: “How can Nespresso ensure that coffee farming is a sustainable economic activity for small-holder farmers in Colombia for the next 25 years?” Before reaching Switzerland, the Rollins team’s proposal made it through two rounds of academic and corporate judges.
Cleaning the coast
Nearly 30 volunteers, including Taylor Morrison employees and family members, joined together with Keepers of the Coast to participate in a summer beach cleanup event in St. Augustine. Together, the group collected 50 pounds of trash, which included 3,000 cigarette butts. Unfortunately, this is not uncommon, as cigarette butts topped the list of trash collected during the Ocean Conservancy’s 2012 International Coastal Cleanup. In fact, in the past 27 years of this event, 57 million cigarette butts have been found. If stacked vertically, they would be as tall as 3,867 Empire State Buildings.
Beazer expands
Emerson International recently negotiated a lease agreement with Beazer Homes for an expansion of their Orlando headquarters office space at 2600 Maitland Center Parkway. Emerson International Director of Leasing Kenneth Koch, who negotiated the expanded lease, said Beazer Homes’ offices in Maitland will now total 6,728 square feet. Zac Starkey, commercial associate for Emerson International, negotiated two leases at CenterPointe Office Park in Altamonte Springs and one at Altamonte Lakeside Park.
